On Saturday, South Carolina Gamecocks forward G.G. Jackson was at the top of his game, as he posted 30 points (10-21 FG, 4-8 3PT), eight rebounds, two blocks, and one steal against #16 Auburn.
Jackson has flashed NBA upside all season long. He has scored 20+ points in six games this season.
The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor recently released his 2023 NBA Draft Guide, and he placed Jackson at ninth overall on his big board. He compared him to a “nimble Marcus Morris“. “Elastic forward who can create shots for himself,” O’Connor wrote.
The comparison makes sense. At 6’9″, Jackson has the ability to shoot over smaller defenders. His size and athleticism also give him the potential to be a versatile defender. Morris has displayed similar traits over his 14-year NBA career. He is a plus spot up shooter but can also score off the dribble or posting up.
At 18 years old, Jackson’s ceiling remains very high. Even though the Morris comparison makes sense, Jackson still has the potential to develop into a star at the next level. If he can improve his consistency with age, he should be a lethal scorer at the next level.
