On April 25th, South Carolina Gamecocks transfer point guard Chico Carter Jr. committed to DePaul.
Carter entered the transfer portal on March 20th. Last season, he started 25 games for the Gamecocks, averaging 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. He shot a blistering 47.6 percent from three-point range.
Notably, Carter was also third on the team in both true shooting percentage (60.4 percent) and win shares (1.2).
Carter began his college career at Murray State. During the 2020-21 season, he averaged a career-high 12.7 points and 1.1 steals.
He will give DePaul a knock-down shooter and complimentary scorer. The Blue Demons are coming off a 10-23 season.
Carter is their third transfer commit, joining Minnesota small forward Jaden Henley and Wyoming power forward Jeremiah Oden.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks have had five players enter the transfer portal (Carter, combo guard Ford Cooper Jr., power forward Ja’Von Benson, center Tre-Vaughn Minott, and power forward Daniel Hankins-Sanford).
