
2024 four-star linebacker Dakyus Brinkley is expected to take a camp visit to South Carolina this summer, according to Phil Kornblut of SportsTalk Media Network.
“I’m still in the middle of choosing the date and finalizing, but my pop said we’ll try to be there in the summer for a camp for sure,” Brinkley told Kornblut.
“I started talking to South Carolina [in] the middle of my junior year,” he continued. “They sent me a couple of camp dates.”
247Sports Composite ranks him as the 19th overall edge rusher in the class. He attends Katy High School in Katy, TX. As a junior, he posted 41 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks, per MaxPreps.
Brinkley is the son of former Gamecocks linebacker Jasper Brinkley. In 2006, he was a first-team All-SEC selection; he recorded 107 total tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, five sacks, and four passes defended. He went on to play six seasons in the NFL.
Dakyus Brinkley has previously visited Oklahoma and Texas. In addition, he has an official visit scheduled with Kansas.
