According to Jason Jordan of Rivals, South Carolina Gamecocks guard Ford Cooper Jr. has entered the transfer portal.
Cooper began his college career at Missouri State, where he appeared in 27 games as a freshman. He averaged 1.9 points, 1.1 assists, and 1.0 rebounds in 12.0 minutes. Following the season, he transferred to South Carolina. In the next two seasons, he played in only two total games for the Gamecocks.
In 2022-23, he took on a larger role. He played in 18 games averaging 7.3 minutes, 0.9 points, and 0.7 rebounds. Unfortunately, Cooper made only five out of his 23 field goal attempts. That was a small sample size, though, and he was a 37.1 percent three-point shooter at Missouri State.
Out of high school, Cooper was a highly regarded recruit. 247Sports Composite ranked him as the eight-best recruit in the state of North Carolina. He should draw interest in the transfer portal.
