On May 11th, Syracuse transfer defensive end Jatius Geer committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

“It Feels GREAT To Be Home!” he tweeted. “Gamecock Nation Let’s Do It.”

In high school, Geer was an in-state recruit. He went to Belton-Honea Path High School in Anderson, SC. 247Sports rated him as the 12th-best recruit in South Carolina in the 2021 recruiting class. He committed to Syracuse over Alabama A&M, Campbell, Chattanooga, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Liberty, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State, UCF, and Western Kentucky.

In 2022, he played a big role for the Orange as a redshirt freshman. He started 12 games and recorded 33 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

On3 rates Geer as a three-star transfer. He is the Gamecocks’ ninth transfer addition of the offseason; he is the second defensive transfer, joining Ole Miss linebacker Jaron Willis.
