2023 kicker Peyton Argent has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks as a preferred walk-on. He shared the news on Twitter.
“I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of South Carolina!” Argent wrote.
Argent attends Hoover High School in Hoover, AL. During his high school career, he made 50 out of his 51 extra-point attempts, per MaxPreps. His career-long was from 43 yards. He also was effective as a punter. As a junior, he punted 22 times and landed seven inside the 20-yard line. Kohl’s Kicking ranks Argent as the 17th-best kicker in the 2023 class.
Argent also received a preferred walk-on offer from Louisiana. He also took a visit to Georgia in 2021.
The Gamecocks currently have two kickers on their roster: starter Mitch Jeter and walk-on Daniel Lester. Last season, Jeter made all 11 of his field goal attempts, and he converted on 42 out of his 44 extra-point tries.
