The Citadel transfer forward Stephen Clark committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Monday.
“Excited to announce that I will be spending my last year at the University of South Carolina”, he wrote in an Instagram post.
Clark played four seasons at The Citadel (2019-23) before entering the transfer portal in March. He is listed at 6’8″ and 205 pounds. Last season, he averaged 16.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 blocks, while shooting 49.2 percent from the field. He was a second-team All-Southern Conference selection.
After losing five players to the transfer portal, the Gamecocks have rebounded nicely by adding Clark and Minnesota transfer guard Ta’Lon Cooper. As a result, they actually have the top-ranked transfer class in the nation, right now, per On3.
In addition, they are still in the mix for international recruits Morris Ugusuk and Okku Federiko. Another player to watch is guard Meechie Johnson, who declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, but maintained his eligibility.
